Colombina explores how dependence and hierarchical relationships affect personal freedom, and how unspoken desires can control our behaviour. The shown world, created through text, image and movement is highly artificial, but the forces working there are real and recognisable. The light design focused on creating an atmosphere of luxury and indulgence to situate the piece in the world of a Queen. I used light and reflected images to create an impression of unending space, which was then filled with multiple images of the characters, who struggle to see themselves as they really are.
