Dying Together invites the audience to physically participate in an excercise of collective thinking, exploring situations where large numbers of living things have died together. These situations are experienced from within, with no possibility for an overview. Creating and moving through constellations of people makes the inter-connectedness and possible relationships between them visible. The central theme of collective death is used to shed light on the way we relate to each other.
The lights design and scenography were developed together. The aim was to create a heightened working space, which supported the invitation to the audience to think together, physically. Light was reflected off hanging panels to create a diffuse yet specific ambience. A subtle breathing movement, just below the level of conscious perception, prevented the space from becoming static or overly pressured.
