Age of Rage is about a smart, angry young woman struggling to be understood. We meet Frieda shortly after her arrest for throwing a cake in the face of a politician. The story behind her actions unfolds through scenes, memories and video documentaries. The work explores issues of class, poverty, racism, radicalisation and how they shape Frieda's worldview. Age of Rage opens up an important discussion about the need to listen in these angry times.
The piece takes place in one room, in which different locations and times are played out. The light design switches between these locations, moving in a way that gives rhythm and dynamic to the piece, and creates the feeling of a girl in the still centre of a hurricane, watching her world spin around her.
