If every rock is a hole, then every absence is a presence. If every hole is a rock, then vulnerability is a strength.
If every rock is a hole is a subtle and contemplative dance performance in which the audience is invited to slow down and look beyond the visible. In this work Argentinian choreographer Amparo González Sola challenges the borders between visibility and invisibility, resisting and surrendering, presence and absence. The piece summon hidden memories, images, movements and sounds of deserted landscapes. Sola investigates how dance can make perceptible what seems invisible, silent or absent
The audience gathers on both sides of a large white surface. Among them and in close proximity, the performer holds a series of intriguing postures that evokes human and other than human beings resisting and surrendering. Serene and still, simultaneously vulnerable and strong. The piece unfolds through a minimalist and precise choreography made of curves, arcs, tensions, folds, setbacks and suspensions; not only of the body, but also of the space, the time, the sound and the light.
"Every now and then a shudder, in the form of a warm or cold light switch or a growling sound, passes through the room. Light and sound (in a stage image by Vinny Jones) therefore form beautiful little underlines on these physical images. They attract attention for a moment and then disappear into the background."

The spatial deign was clean and almost stark, focusing the attention to the still, concencentrated movements of the choreography. I wanted somehow to refer to things outside of this highly organised frame, to things that are present but unseen. Things that move through the space or instigate a shift in the space, to move it into a new orientation. On several occasions a small shift in colour temperature, or a wave of colour pass through the space, creating a spatial and temporal porocity.
