Two children are left alone in an inhospitable world. They have both left behind destructive families for an uncertain future. They play a cruel game in which a child's world is disturbingly similar to the real thing. With sober and precise theatrical language De Gemeenschap tells of the fragility of human relationships. The light design is simple and austere. Lights fade from outside to inside to focus the gaze of the audience and bring them into the children's world. In contrast to the often stillness of the performers, the lights are in constant motion, slowly and imperceptibly fading, creating an unseen yet palpable tension in the space.
